This wasn’t the ep I thought it was. I thought this was the one with Sharon’s dad, but that’s in four episode’s time, I think. This is the one with the tax audit, and the father storylines for Angela and Patti. It’s actually kind of a downer, and not very plot-driven. Good, but not great.
It stars Winnie Holzman (I was told she appears as the English teacher with the visible bra in the pilot, but that’s bad info. She actually plays the guidance teacher) and her husband, Paul Dooley, who plays Patti’s dad and is 30 years her senior. It would be really bitchy to add, “Speaking of dad issues…” right?
Here’s some highlights from our chat this week:
@feelinglistless Does Angela do something horrible to everyone at some point?
@Keris Probably. She’s a teenager.
@Novelicious Trivia - Young Angela in this ep is played by Penny from The Big Bang Theory!
@Keris The dad in #MSCLRW was Susan Lewis’s dad in ER.
@feelinglistless That waitress was played by Wyatt’s mom from Weird Science.
@dianeshipley If I don’t spot someone who was in something else soon, I’m gonna feel really left out.
@Keris “You know how the last sentence echoes in your brain and just keeps sounding stupider?” Hells yeah.
@Novelicious The tax woman is the judge in Legally Blonde (Sorry @dianeshipley!)
@Novelicious “Try not to sweat into it” Heh. Classic Krakow. Does something sweet and then ruins it with his mouth
@Keris This episode is making me feel guilty. And it’s a long time since I was a teenager.
@dianeshipley Love that Patti actually tells her dad what’s bothering her. Even though he doesn’t really get it.
@feelinglistless This is the speech Angela isn’t old enough to have with her Dad yet.
@mssusieday I AM picturing Angela naked, but only so I can deprive her of those hideously unflattering jeans.
@Novelicious A good watch but probably my least favourite episode of the series.
@Keris Oh I enjoyed it - or thought it was good at least - but that’s probably cos of my own “dad issues”.
@Novelicious That’s what I liked about it (dad issue stuff) but compared to what is yet to come, it’s below par IMHO.
@dianeshipley Gosh this episode harshed my mellow. Close to the bone.
@feelinglistless Even a simply “good” episode of #MSCLRW is better than most episodes of other series.
True that. See you next week, same time (1 PM BST), same place (Twitter, hashtag: #MSCLRW).
